Donations

As the temperature begins to drop during cold Nebraska winter months, the anxieties of low-income residents rise over how to keep their families warm with increasing utility costs.

The federal low-income energy assistance program (LIHEAP) gives the State of Nebraska a tool to help low-income families keep their natural gas and electricity on.

Besides the LIHEAP funds, Omaha area utilities have assistance programs.

From January-May 2009 more than $152,000 from M.U.D.'s Heat Aid Fund helped pay utility bills for our older and disabled neighbors.

In 2008, OPPD's energy assistance program helped 1,224 households, distributing $275,265.

Your ongoing investment in local energy assistance programs will enable us to continue to effectively serve neighbors in need.
